Ethan
Ethan was diagnosed with High-Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in October 2014 at seven years old and finished treatment in February 2018. While being treated at CHOC Children’s Hospital, Ethan noticed that books and reading were missing from patients’ hospital experience, especially the oncology patients on the 5th floor. Along with his mom, he founded Ethan & Choco’s Book Club (ECBC) in December 2015 to make sure that hospitalized kids receive the tremendous cognitive, social, and emotional benefits of reading that help them to thrive through treatment and beyond. Ethan can’t imagine getting through Leukemia without books and reading, so he’s super grateful to be able to give back to the cancer community in this way. — Ali, Ethan’s Momma
